Goals

A. Silent Student evaluation
B. Correcting “bad habits” in drawing
C. Proper techniques and exercises for line drawing
D. Still Life study(s)

The focus of this class is to promote control, and proper drawing techniques and drawing exercises.

*Step 1 goals are approximate. My classes are designed to train and inspire each student to work at their individual best.

Required Materials

1. Standing wood easel
2. 18x24 (50-100) sheet newsprint drawing paper
3. 12 drawing pencil set
4. Pencil sharpener

 

 

Goals

A. Recognizing preconceptions in drawing
B. Gesture drawing exercises
C. Visual measurements and drawing planning
D. Drawing the human hand

The focus of this class is to promote control, visual clarity and accuracy, and drawing the hand "flesh drawing"

Required Materials

1. Supply list from Exploration of Drawing class
2. 9"x12" Acid free drawing pad - bright white paper.
3. White vinyl eraser

 

 

Class Goals - Fundamentals of Artistic Vision Required

A. Intense self portrait study
B. Class studies on the face. Eyes, ears, mouth, nose.
C. Visual measurements and drawing planning as applied to the facial features.

The focus of this class is to learn about facial features, self portrait and the application of drawing techniques previously learned.

Required Materials

1. Supply list from Exploration of Drawing class AND fundamentals of Artistic Vision.
2. One to two 18"x24" acid free drawing board.

 



Advanced Student's

Notes to Returning Students: These classes will have an academic portion to the curriculum. I will be suppling work sheets
for the students and will be expecting the students to study.



Skill Level 3 - Skeletal System

1. Requirements: Completion of the first 2 skills levels

2. Goals: To learn and name the bones and bone features through memorization, and to draw them.

3. Required Material:

A. New news print pads if needed
B. Several sheets (approx. 6, 18"x24") of medium grey canson drawing paper.
C. Compressed black, white and terra cotta, conte' crayon.
D. Black and white Prisma Color Color Pencils (2 of each color) or black and white charcoal pencils (2 of each color).
E. Kneaded eraser
F. 4-5 Tortillion (smudge) sticks


Skill Level 4 - Muscular System

1. Requirements: Completion of the first 3 skills levels

2. Goals: To learn and name the muscles through memorization, and to draw them.

3. Required Material:

A. New news print pads if needed
B. Several sheets (approx. 6, 18"x24") of medium grey canson drawing paper.
C. Compressed black, white and terra cotta, conte' crayon.
D. Prisma Color Color Pencils, or Pastels.
E. 4-5 Tortillion (smudge) sticks


Skill Level 5 - Composition

1. Requirements: Completion of the first 4 skills levels

2. Goals: Learn about composing a drawing and apply every thing that has been learned to creatively compose a full color piece of art.

3. Required Material:

A. Prisma Color Pencils
B. Several sheets (approx. 6, 18"x24") of medium grey canson drawing paper or drawing board.
C. Compressed black, white and terra cotta, conte' crayon.
D. Prisma Color Color Pencils, or Pastels.
E. 4-5 Tortillion (smudge) sticks

Color Pencil Workshop
Come learn how you use Prismacolor Color Pencils Like the Pro's!

Course will contain Fun, Technique, some color theory, and a take home picture drawn by you.

Supplies provided, however if you own a set of Prismacolor Premier Color Pencils, you are welcome to bring them.

Composition & Design
Learn how to improve your drawings by understanding these principles: Balance Variety, Depth, Repetition, Variation, Color, Line, Shape, Texture, Form and Motion. Over the 3 day, 4 hour classes we will compose a drawing using these different techniques to help understand what makes a composition stand out from the rest. Please bring a sack lunch or make arrangements.

Introduction to Chinese Painting
Learn the basics to this beautiful asian style painting. We will cover how to paint bamboo, orchids, stawberries and a few other subjects. These are great for homemade cards and paintings that are great for Christmas!

Papercraft
Come and learn the exciting world of papercraft!!
